WINE PAIRING & TASTING

HeART Gallery will offer a wine and cheese tasting at noon on Thursday, January 17 and 7pm on Friday, January 18. A sampling of California wines selected by Mancy’s Bottle Shop will be paired with local artisan cheeses from Turkeyfoot Creek and Zingerman’s Creameries. Diane Rogers, of Syd & Dianes, will demonstrate how to create an outstanding cheese plate for home entertaining. Guests will also participate in a Win and Wager game during the tasting (no $ involved). An antipasta bar featuring Italian and California inspired appetizers will be offered.

The gallery exhibit explores an exquisite collection of vintage wine labels, produced by the Lehmann Printing and Lithographing Company of San Francisco. Designed post-Prohibition and during the Great Depression, Lehmann’s labels graced hundreds of thousands of bottles of mass manufactured wines. The company employed one hundred people, including a staff of anonymous artists who designed the intricate and colorful labels in a 1930’s Art Deco style.

Cost for the noon Jan. 17 tasting and buffet is $10. Cost for 7pm Jan 18 tasting and buffet is $15. Included is four samples of California wines paired with local artisan cheese, breads and an Antipasta Bar. An additional donation is appreciated for those desiring a beverage beyond the tasting. For those who prefer, other non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

Reservations required through kate@stpaulstoledo.org. HeART Gallery is located in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 428 North Erie Street in downtown Toledo. It is handicap accessible with free parking adjacent to the church.
