Party In The Parking Lot Sun July 16 4-7pm
“Let’s Build” and “Ohio Innocence Project” partner with St Paul’s Lutheran Church/HeART Gallery for a unique Party-In-The-Parking-Lot on Sunday, July 16 from 4-7pm. Volunteers are invited to an outdoor bed build to make beds for children in Lucas & Wood County who are in need of one. Mattresses and bedding will be provided by a grant through the Zoar Lutheran Church Foundation, Perrysburg.
Members of THE CHEEKS band of Toledo
Live music by the six member band, The Cheeks, will keep guests entertained and picnic food from the grill will be served for a donation. Guests are invited to bring their own beverages of choice. The Ohio Innocence Project will participate as a partner in the event with Dean Gillespie on-hand with his newly renovated vintage camper. Dean was wrongfully convicted and served 20 years in jail. Upon his release, he has spoken to many groups about his experience , including HeART Gallery. He recently restored this camper to fulfill a dream of traveling Route 66.
Joining Dean will be three men from Lucas County who were also wrongfully convicted: Karl Willis and Wayne Braddy, who were featured in WTOL’s special investigation, Guilty without Proof, and Willie Knighten, who continues to give back to Lucas County through his reentry services for all people returning to society from prison.
Reservations for this event are greatly appreciated to accommodate the purchase of lumber and food. Email kate@stpaulstoledo.org. Bring a lawn chair and come ready to build, eat, and enjoy some fantastic music! St Pauls is located at 428 N. Erie, downtown Toledo.
